Weekly leagues: 30 players, six divisions, one Sunday night

Updated October 27, 2026

Every week, Towndom puts you in a league of 30 players, ranked by percentage gain. Finish high and you move up a division, finish low and you drop. Here is how the leagues, the leaderboards and the monthly season work, all in play money.

Towndom is a game: the currency is 100% fictional and nothing can be won or withdrawn for real. This guide is not investment advice.

How does a Towndom league work?

You are placed in a league of 30 players. Over the week, everyone is ranked by percentage gain, not by the amount of money they hold. The week ends on Sunday at 11:59 pm Paris time. Then the top 7 are promoted, the bottom 5 are relegated, and everybody else stays in their division. On your first launch after the reset, a recap tells you how last week went.

The league screen shows your division badge, your rank, your gain for the week, a countdown, and a zone: promotion, stay or relegation. It tells you how far you are from moving up (“0.4% from promotion”) and warns you when you are close to dropping.

What are the six divisions?

From the bottom to the top: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond and Legend. A promotion moves you up one division and earns 30 écus, the comfort currency. Staying in the top half of your division earns 10 écus. These rewards are modest: the real prize is the rank.

Why percentage gain, and what does not count?

A percentage lets a small treasury compete with a large one. Doubling a small stake is worth the same as doubling a big one, so the ranking rewards decisions rather than size. Start a week with €2,000 and finish with €2,100, and you are at +5%. A player who started at €4,000 and finished at €4,160 is at +4%, and ranks below you despite the bigger fortune.

The ranking is also protected from free money. Whatever the game gives you is excluded from your percentage gain and from every leaderboard:

  • the daily chest and its optional ad double
  • the optional rewarded ads
  • rent from your towers
  • referral bonuses

Who are you playing against?

Your league is filled out with other players, some of whom are managed by the server. That keeps every league full from day one and means the game does not depend on how many people are online. These players are tuned to be cautious and beatable.

You can also look beyond your own league. The leaderboards have three views: the top 50 of the week in France by percentage gain, the players who hold the most mayorships, and the best Flair streaks. Your own position is always shown.

How do the season and the daily crown fit in?

Leagues run weekly. Alongside them, a monthly season starts on the first of each month, when all of France is up for grabs again. The season ranks players by total fortune: cash, the value of their towns and of their stations, minus whatever they were given. At the end of the season you keep part of your gains for the next month as an inheritance.

Every day, a “daily crown” rewards the best percentage gain of the day, as long as you committed at least €200. Leagues, the season and Flair predictions are played in season mode. Chill mode has no ranking at all.

Joining in the middle of a season costs you nothing. You get the same €2,000 start as everyone else, and since the league and the daily crown are played in percentage gain, a late arrival can still compete on equal terms.

What does a typical league week look like?

On Monday you open the app and see last week’s recap: your division, your rank and whether you were promoted, held your place or dropped. A new week starts with a fresh ranking, and everybody’s weekly gain starts again from zero.

Through the week, the league screen keeps three things in front of you: your rank among the 30, your gain so far and the zone you are in (promotion, stay or relegation). A countdown shows how long you have before Sunday night.

On Sunday at 11:59 pm Paris time, the week is settled. Promotion and relegation are applied and the rewards in écus are paid out. Then it starts over, in the same division or a new one, with 29 other players.

How can you climb the divisions?

There is no secret formula, and no result is guaranteed, but a few habits are worth noting. Check the “Why?” screen so you act on facts rather than on a hunch. Remember the league lasts a week, and a position built on a single town leaves little room for surprises. Keep in mind that percentages work both ways: a big move can lift you or sink you.

The most important rule is to treat it as a game. The ranking only measures play money, and a rank in Towndom says nothing about real markets. Read the beginner tips for a calmer way into the game, and the mayor guide if you want to add a second goal.

Frequently asked questions

How many players are in a league?
Thirty, ranked by percentage gain over the week, in one of six divisions from Bronze to Legend.
When does the week end?
On Sunday at 11:59 pm, Paris time. The top 7 are promoted and the bottom 5 are relegated.
Do the daily chest and ads help my ranking?
No. Money the game gives you, such as the chest, ad rewards, rent and referral bonuses, is excluded from the percentage gain and from every ranking.
Do I win anything real?
No. Leagues use fictional currency and the rewards are small amounts of écus, the in-game comfort currency. Nothing can be withdrawn or converted into real money.
